Bring the changes you are noticing
Discuss hot flashes, night sweats, disrupted sleep, stress, or menstrual discomfort. A symptom diary and medication list can help frame the conversation.
Lia considers your health history and existing gynecologic care before recommending treatment.
An individualized combination of care
Acupuncture may form part of your individualized plan. Other techniques are considered only when they fit your symptoms and preferences.
For example, a conversation about neck tension may lead to different choices than a conversation about nighttime waking. There is no standard package of techniques that everyone receives.
Clear expectations for hot flashes
Studies have found improvement compared with no acupuncture, but have not established a clear benefit over sham acupuncture for menopausal hot flashes. This is an optional supportive approach, without a promise to balance hormones or reverse menopause.
Care alongside your medical team
Continue recommended screening and discuss new or unusual bleeding with your medical clinician. Herbal recommendations require a separate suitability review, especially if you use hormone therapy or other prescription medicines.
Common questions
Do I need a menopause diagnosis before calling?
You can call to discuss a consultation. Acupuncture assessment does not replace medical evaluation of new symptoms or a diagnosis of perimenopause.
Will this replace hormone therapy?
No. Decisions about hormone therapy and other medical treatments should be made with the clinician managing them.
When will I need a follow-up or reassessment?
Timing depends on your treatment progress. Lia reviews your response and current needs to decide when to reassess, adjust the plan or arrange another visit.
